Elsey gets a makeover.

Well Elsey spent a few days watching me, but I still felt that her true spirit wasn't quite showing through so I decided to give her a needle felted extreme makeover. I have been doing a lot of needle felting but hadn't tried it on a bear before and though it was about time. So here she is complete with neddle felted new face and I'm really pleased with the result!

Elsey and the chickens.

Well I finally got round to using my swirly purple mohair and here is Elsey. I think she turned out really cute and I reall like this fabric, you don't have to worry about the lie of the fur because of the swirl which makes life a little easier. None of the photo's really do her colour justice, it's a really deep plummy colour and not so browmn as the pictures make it look, she's watching me type! I havn't made any little dogs this week, feel like I've been slacking off, but I've been really tired and now it's half term so I'm knee deep in babies. I think I'll try a chihuahua, people seem nuts about those. I don't know wether to put Elsey on Ebay or not, I havn't had much luck selling the big bears. My husband says I get discouraged to easily, but it's hard knowing how to build a reputation without forking out loads of cash.

On a more cheer full note our new chickens came home yesterday, they are 3 rescued battery hens who had never seen the great out doors until today, bless their little souls, they are really friendly and even managed to lay eggs after all that stress! Ho hum I'm off to felt a tiny dog....after I stop this baby from screamimg and scrub the dog poo off the patio hooray for my glamorous life!

So last night, while watching broke back mountain (and crying quite a lot!) I made a new needle felted mini panda bear, called Ling Ling. I love making these, they turn out so cute and tiny and it is really satisfying to be able to sit down and make something and finfish it, all in one go. I think this one tourned out especially precious. She will be going on ebay straight away becuase we got so poor this weekend that I had to go raid my mum and dad's house for food (they are away on holiday). They'll have to restock the store cupboard when they get back! And I packed off Peaches to her new home this morning, my husband thinks I'm soft for wrapping her in tiny fleece for the journey, but I get really sad when I have to wrap them up and say goodbye, he's right, I am soft in the head.

next project is to use the gorgeous peice of wavy purple Mohair I got from Bear Basics, For some reason I can't get a clear vision in my head of what I want so I might have to just make a start and see where it takes me.

Meet Wilhelmina, for sale on ebay

Well here is my latest creation, I called her Wilhelmina ballerina after my middle daughter who is nearly three. I really love this little bear and its a bit heart breaking to sell her but..... can't afford any more materials til I do sadly. She is old gold, distressed Schulte mohair, which I then distressed even more with plenty of trimming and rubbing to matt her up a bit. I used fabric pens and tea bags for aging her and her little oufit, I'm reall pleased with her finished look. She has various little patches darned up with peach cotton perle and plenty of frayed looking bits. She has Matt black englich glass eyes and a waxed nose. I made her with slightly pointed ballerina toes too.

Well she's on ebay now so I hope she goes to a really good home, sometimes I worry that I am too sentimiental to make any money from this game!

Hello!

Hi bear people and welcome to my bear blog! the picture is Daffodil.

My name is Sarah and I live in the cambs fens with my husband, three daughters aged 4,2 and 10 months, 3 cats and two dogs. I am a full time mum and part time bear maker, obviously the tots keep me pretty busy but I love crafting when ever I get a free second (literally ha ha).

I have always lovedcrafts of all sorts and particularly any sort of soft toy, I was that child who bought the sorryest looking toys from charity shops so they'd have a home. My mother was a big influence as she was a spinner and weaver when I was younger and we spent plenty of time at craft fairs.

I love everthing about making bears and after making a few for my children and for friends out of cheaper fabrics and SAFETY eyes of course, I decided to start making some quality ones for sale. My brain is constanly brimming over with ideas and its nice to have a gentle creative outlet. I can't imagine ever having just one style as there are infinite things I would live to try.

I also got into needle felting almost by accident and love that too, I have been making collectible dogs and some gorgeous micro bears for dolls houses. Hope you enjoy looking at my creations and feel free to contact me with questions, I'll try to update when new things are going on ebay! Thanks for reading Sarahx
